Our yearly excursion to the Farmington River sells out quickly for a reason. It could be because we take over the beautiful Legends on the Farmington, an incredible Chalet style sportsman’s lodge with a wader room, back porch, full kitchen, great room and six bedrooms, in Barkhamsted, Connecticut; or perhaps it’s because the river is right out the back door; or maybe it’s our incredible guides; or, the fact that we all land at least a few incredible trout every year! It’s most likely a combination of all of that, as well as the river itself. The Farmington is a beautiful New England river and is justifiably famous for its large brown trout and easy wading.
The angling begins Thursday afternoon and doesn’t end until Sunday morning. The Julianas are welcome to arrive as early as 2pm on Thursday, drop our bags, wader up, and fish the pool behind the lodge. Thursday’s dinner and snacks will be available in the kitchen for easy picking whenever you’re ready. Remember to pack your head lamp, because this is one of the few times we fish until the wee hours Thursday, Friday, and Saturday nights. It’s absolutely mystical to stand in the river and cast for brown trout as the headlamps from other anglers line up down the river as far as the eye can see!
Our guides will meet us at Legends Friday and Saturday morning. We’ll have breakfast in and pack our lunches to save time on the river. Our guides will be with us for 6 hours Friday & Saturday, so that we have full days of guided fishing before returning to the lodge for dinner. After dinner we usually head back out for evening fishing. We conclude our annual trip after breakfast Sunday morning.
Trip costs cover double occupancy rooms, all meals from dinner Thursday through breakfast Sunday. Guides (2 anglers per guide) & tips Friday/Saturday.
You’ll need all of your own gear, including waders, wading belt, wading boots, wading staff, 5 or 6 wt. fly-fishing outfit, hat, sun glasses, bug spray, suntan lotion, as well as a Connecticut Fresh Water Fishing License. We will recommend specific flies as the date approaches.
Trip Cost: $1495.00
