Trico Hatches in the Adirondacks!! Aug 22-25, 2019

We return to the spectacular Adirondacks and our (not so) secret mountain chalet for three nights lodging and two full days of fly fishing with guides from the Ausable River Two Fly Shop. Rising trout and dry flies are our goal!! We’ll be pursuing the Trico hatch on the legendary West Branch of the Ausable River; although the Saranac and Boquet Rivers are right next door and we will follow those fish where ever they lead! A snowy winter and wet spring are expected to keep water levels up, and the early season has been promising, producing nice fish throughout the area.

Anglers will head north Thursday night (the drive is about 5 hours from NYC) in order to get an early start and fish with local guides all day Friday and all day Saturday before heading home after breakfast Sunday. There will be snacks available Thursday night for late arrivals and all meals are included in the trip price through breakfast Sunday. The night sky is truly spectacular in the North Country with the Milky Way and abundant stars over head. We will be lodged at a private chalet with complete privacy, spectacular mountain views, walking trails, and a nightly fire pit. The Adirondacks are a bucket list destination for fly fishers and the 3 to 1 ratio of anglers to guides guarantees each angler will get plenty of attention.

There is plenty of room to pitch a tent or hang a hammock if you’re so inclined. Everyone will need a NYS fishing license and the fishing, as well as the wading, can be challenging. Set your navigation for the North Country and come on up! The mountains are waiting!!
